Editions Cul-de-sac

Hello! I'm back from a weekend in Montreal (Je l'y aimais...beaucoup!). It was a busy weekend. Actually, I mean...I kind of fell in love while I was there.

I know some of you must be surprised. You thought that I would end up being a lonely old cat lady who talks to herself and spends her time knitting cat-sized sweaters. Well, don't worry. That will still probably happen.

You see, I fell in love with a product while I was abroad...not a person.

What product?

The cul-de-sac. It's a canvas tote bag (they come in black or white) decorated with quotations from famous people...IN FRENCH. The cul-de-sac that I bought is black with white writing and says: "J'ai les goutes les plus simples, je me contente du meilleur"-Oscar Wilde.

It's big and roomy. It's sturdy. I can use it for groceries or as a purse. It has a quotation on it and plays up the French language. It's basically everything that I would ever/could ever want in a product.

I am MORE than happy :)

Maybe you can get one yourself!

Don't make me come over there!

Dear Mouse,
WOW. I must say, I'm very surprised. I thought that my blog entry/the print out I gave you would be enough. I thought my words would convince you to stay the F. out of my apartment and move on with your life. I thought that you were a thing of the past.

Well apparently, I was wrong. Not only did you NOT leave, but you went further into my apartment. You left the common area of the kitchen (the 'international waters' if you will, of my apartment) and entered Jamie's room. I mean sure I could breathe a sigh of relief that you're not in my room...but I'm not that type of person. But let's not talk about me right now. Let's talk about you and what you did.

You did something that is morally wrong and down right freaky, Mouse. You found a package of mickey mouse cookies and you ate them-ALL of them (*Jamie would like to point out that the two cookies = 300 calories*) The cookies were a present that Jamie's sister sent her from Disney World. They were special, and you just poked a little hole in the packaging and the cookies were gone (how did you do that btw, we're kind of curious) Are you a cannibal? It's not OK for a Mouse to eat other mice...even if they're cookie mice and not flesh and bone.

You're gross!

I think I might be dealing with a psychopath instead of a cute Fival-type or Mighty Mouse. I might be dealing with a monster-a cookie-eating monster!

In which case...stay tuned. If you want war, then...

xoxo

Another letter

Dear mouse that lives somewhere in my kitchen,
Hi. How are you? It's always hard to begin a letter to something that you don't know very well/at all, but I think for the sake of my mental sanity I should keep trudging on. Who cares if this letter is kind of awkward?

Also, I know how annoying it can be to get passive aggressive letters from people you're living with, but since we've never met and I don't think I'll ever see you face to face...I had no other choice. I wonder what you look like...

I assume that you don't read my blog. I know it's not good to assume things...the whole 'ass out of u and me' thing... but I just know you haven't been reading. You see mouse, if you had been reading my blog then you would have seen a letter that I wrote a few weeks ago to a certain cockroach that was living in my room. You also would have probably LOL'd at some of the more ridiculous/funny things I've had to say but that's besides the point. My blog's awesome.

In that letter, I told the cockroach in my room that he was expected to pay half of my rent or to move out ASAP. Well, the same goes for you mouse. Granted, you're not living in my room and I have yet to see you. But just because you don't dare to enter my bed chamber, doesn't mean that you should ever consider crossing the threshold of my apartment. And just because I haven't seen you, doesn't mean that I think you're not there. You're there, alright. You might lay low during the day time, but the holes in my bag of croutons and the bite marks in Jamie's bags of oatmeal indicate otherwise.

Furthermore, the squeaking and scratching that you were doing yesterday, on Yom Kippur no less, were highly unappreciated and down right rude. Your ballsy behavior caused the TV show my mom and I were watching to be interupted on several occasions and ultimately resulted in my having to clean out my food cabinet and throw away opened packages. Normally, cleaning is a good thing. But to have to take out, examine, and then put away FOOD on a day where I'm not allowed to eat is too much.

So please, I urge you, and demand of you, to GET THE F*** OUT. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE. Like Gandolf the wizard in 'Lord of the Rings' said, 'YOU SHALL NOT PASS [mouse living in Becky's apartment]'.

No longer will Jamie and I stand idly by while you eat our food. No longer will we *hope* that you go away. It seems that you, like the cockroach that was living in my room, have a thing for free loading. You waltz into a space that you have no ownership of and instead of asking if you can stay or borrow some food you just TAKE, TAKE, TAKE. You're so selfish!

Did you think, for one moment, that maybe I bought that bag of croutons because I wanted to enjoy them? Or didn't you do much thinking while you were in the middle of crunch-crunch-crunching? Did you contemplate, even for one second, that maybe Jamie bought a big pack of oatmeal because she really likes oatmeal and wanted to eat it? I'm thinking, NO. You didn't.

So mouse, you have a few choices. Like I did for the cockroach, I will present you with a few options. You can either: leave the apartment ASAP and live out the rest of your smelly/gross/lame life elsewhere, or you can NEVER leave and die in one of a series of glue traps that I am planning on buying and laying around the apartment. Don't worry about paying rent or hiding under my bed. DIE or GET OUT.

I have nothing more to say to you except this: I've never met you and I hope to GOD that I never will.

- Becky

P.S. Since I know you're not reading this blog entry, when I'm done with this letter I will print out a copy for you and bring it home so that you can read it and take note of what I have to say. I may be demanding, but I'm not a bitch.

Celebrities I would like to be friend with-installment 2

Well, fasting sure sucks doesn't it? I mean, all the NOT eating and the um...not being able to eat. IT really makes the day drag and makes things seem so, like, not enjoyable.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm not OBSESSED with food or anything. It's not like I eat all the time or think about food every second that I'm awake...or have stains on a lot of my clothes/bedding from eating. And I definitely don't dream about food or eating delicious meals, or watch reality TV shows about cooking. I mean, don't be stupid ok? DON'T. BE. STUPID.

But anyway, all that REALLY matters is that we're here together now. And that I can eat again and drink water so my mouth doesn't get all dry and my throat doesn't constantly need to be cleared. Don't you hate that?

BECKY: "EH HEM. EHHH HEM."
PERSON IN THE VICINITY: "What?"
BECKY: "Nothing. I'm just clearing my throat. EH HHHHEM."
PERSON IN THE VICINTY: "What?"
BECKY: "EHHH HEM. NOTHING! I said NOTHING! I'm CLEARING my THROAT!"
PERSON IN THE VICINITY: "What?"

Why are people so stupid sometimes? (see above figure)

So let's continue this list of celebrities I would like to be friends with:

1) Neil Patrick Harris. Those eyes. That smile.

Wouldn't hanging out with Neil Patrick Harris be so much fun? First I could ask him about his years spent as a child actor (<3 Doogie Howser <3), Then we'd have a pun-exchange where he'd tell me some funny puns (similar to the ones his character Barney on 'How I Met Your Mother' would use) and I'd um...probably not be able to come up with any. And finally we'd go out dancing at a gay club. I love gay clubs!

2) Tim Gunn. OMGZZZZ. The only thing I can think of that might be better than being best friends with Tim Gunn is finding a no-strings-attached suitcase with a billion dollars in it on the subway on my way to work one morning and then bringing the suitcase to work and telling off everyone who annoys me and giving them papercuts with all of the money I've just found. Tim is sweet, knowledgeable, stylish and funny. Those are pretty much all the things I look for in friends. Not to mention the fact that he'd be able to help dress me for a night out on the town!

3) Justin Timberlake. Look. I know. Just because I had a crush on Justin Timberlake, like a SERIOUS crush, from the ages of 12-18 doesn't mean that I should want to be friends with Justin Timberlake now. I know that...rationally. But emotionally, if I were to somehow cross paths with Justin Timberlake I feel that I'd have to befriend him. You can't love someone for 6 years and then dismiss them from your life. I'd have to tell Justin how cute he is and how much I liked his curls. I'd have to tell him that even though NSYNC is no longer a band he was totally the most talented member and had the best fashion sense...and dance moves. The 13 year old Becky mandates that the soon-to-be 23 year old Becky hypothetically strike up a friendship with Justin Randall Timberlake.

4) Ellen DeGeneres. All the Ellen fans in the house say 'heyyyyyyyyyyy' (that means YOU). I really like Ellen. She's just so funny and like...really funny. And her little short hair style is cute, too. Not that I'm biased and only like people with short hair cuts or anything. Let's just put it this way, if you were funnier, and had a short hairstyle and were named 'Ellen' I might like you a lot more.

Celebrities I would like to be friend with-installment 1

I really like celebrities. I read people.com whenever I get the change (usually about once a week cuz I'm like so super busy and cool and stuff...and like...other stuff) and if perezhilton weren't blocked at work I would be on that shiz 8/5 (eight hours a day, 5 days a week).

Lately I've been thinking about celebrities that I would like to be friends with. You might argue that I'm an unfriendly person who gets EXTREMELY shy around 'important' people. I might argue back that if you think that then why are you reading this?

Just to spite me?!

The more I think about celebrities, and then celebrities I want to be friends with, the more I want to blog about my fantasy celebesties/bestebrities.

So here I go...
Watch out world! Ain't no stoppin' us nowwwww we're on the road (doo doo dooo)

Celebrities I would like to be friends with:

1) Queen Latifah. OMG. Don't you just love her? From her you-go-girl rap career in the early 90's, to her JUICY episode of 'Behind The Music' in the late 90's, to her acting career on the HIT show 'Living Single'...*sigh*.

I've been a fan of Queen Latifah, or should I say, Dana O., for quite some time now. She just seems so...nice, you know? And now that she's REALLY famous and a cover girl I'm sure the perks from a friendship with her would be out-o-contr-o-l. Not to mention all the laughs and good times that we'd share...that's pricele$$.

2) Debra Messing. Did you ever watch the show 'Will & Grace'? I did. Man, that was a great show! First you had Grace and she was all like single, but then sometimes not single, and she was Jewish and then...well still Jewish. And Will...he was so cute! And Jack...actually was kind of annoying. But Karen was funny! Since then, I've been a big fan of Deb Messing. Her hair's all crazy, but hot...kind of like mine (when it's longer, obvs.). And she has smaller boobs than me so if we were to go out in public I'd be the friend with the big boobs. That doesn't happen to me too often...it'd be really nice.

3) Mark Summers. You know, the guy who used to host 'Double Dare' and 'What Would You Do?' ? Yeah. He used to be a little less creepy but I think the years of hosting C-List TV programs have really worn him down. That coupled with the fact that he has OCD apparently...not cool. Any Who, now that he has regular access to candy factories (read: FREE samples) on the TV show 'Unwrapped' I think a friendship with Mark Summers could be and WOULD be right up my alley!

Please refer to the following diagrams:
a)

b)

4) Paris Hilton. So, she might be kind of annoying but really rich. And now she has that TV show on MTv 'My New Bff'. I've never really been on TV (to my knowledge at least...awkard) so I'd like to be friends with Paris Hilton in order to be on TV. Also, I think she seems kind of funny and would give me a good makeover. I've always wanted a makeover!

5) Bill Clinton. Don't you think he'd be fun to hang out with? Pounding down shots in some sleazy dive bar. Playing the saxophone and jammin' in the streetz. HM. Might he try to seduce me...?

MORE LATER!

FINALLY...

So the third pair of boots I'm considering just loaded. Ch-ch-ch-check them out:

Very cute, aren't they? Maybe I should just get all three pairs. One brown, One black and One gray. Then I have all of my neutrals covered.

I wish I had gotten into the 'boot zone' a few weeks ago. Now I'm going to go Montreal this weekend and not be able to wear a pair of cute, new boots with a cute, new dress that I bought at H&M last week. !!!! @@@ %%% ###

Things I'd like to do this year

Hello Everyone! Shana Tova!

What's that?

It means 'Happy New Year' in Jewish. Oops! I mean Hebrew. Yes it's that time again. The time to eat apples and honey (doesn't sound like a good combo, but I assure you that if you eat it only once a year after sitting in services for a few hours it'll seem PRETTY tasty) and think about all the shiz you've done (good or bad). And let's not forget the dressing to impress. That's an important part of the High Holiday season too.

So yeah, it's a new year (5769 if you're curious/into that) and of course, being myself and all, I can't help but think about the year to come. What kind of stuff should I do? I mean, I have TWELVE months to fill with things! I better get started...

Things I'd like to do this year

1) Your mom! OK, that was too easy. You just walked right into that one!

2) Be more understanding. Well, maybe I should also add 'be a better listener' too. It's not that I don't remember what people are telling me when I'm actually listening to them. Usually, if I'm actually listening to you, I have a good conversation-retention rate. The problem is when I zone out in the middle of my conversations...

What? were we talking about something? I like your shirt! Wow! That's so cute. Target, right? Oh, banana? really? That's awkward...I guess I kind of implied that I think your shirt looks cheap. Not that target clothes look cheap. I mean, I own plenty of them myself...

Anyway, I'd like to be more sympathetic towards other people. Usually when people tell me their problems I do the 'this is the world's smallest violin playing the saddest song for you' thing or I say 'wah' or I punch them in the face. But maybe, just maybe, the world would be a more peaceful place if instead of being annoyed by others problems or mocking them I tried to understand them.

I'm sorry, were you saying something?

3) Write a novel. Well, I bet I know what you're thinking. A) Becky this seems redundant. Didn't you write a novel last year? B) Becky this seems redundant. You ramble so much in yourblog entries that they ALL seem like novels to me. Well, in response all I have to say is: Yes, I kind of did but I never finished it. And also, F U.

4) The Astoria Historical Society. Yeah. I bet you didn't even know it existed, did you?! Or maybe, you didn't care that it existed? Well, doesn't matter to me. I plan on hitting it up and learning about my 'hood in the upcoming year.

5) Fondue. Yeah, this isn't really something special...I just really like fondue. MMMM. With soy cheese, of course.

6) The Whitney Museum. I'm American. It's a museum for American art. Enough said, methinks.

7) The NY Botanical Garden. SOOOO I'd wanted to visit it anyway...but then last week they did a challenge on 'Project Runway' where the designers had to go to the gardens and take a picture of something nature-inspired and then design an evening gown based off of one of the pictures they'd taken. Well anyway, seeing the gardens on TV made me even more excited to go visit! Is it too cold now, though?

8) The Brooklyn Botanical Garden. I really like gardens, ok?! What about it?!

9) Go to Israel. Just need to sign up for the ASB trip. Why am I so laz

10) Have a party. Soon enough young skywalker, soon enough.

11) Get a pair of boots. Actually, I'm looking at some right now. Ch-ch-ch-check them out:

And another pair that's taking forever to load right now. So I'll just leave it at that.

BYEZIES!
