Things I like about paper clips

I always think to myself "Becky, your blogs are too long."...and then I spin off to some other strand of thought...probably about what to wear to something.

Then I come back and I'm like 'Becky, maybe if your blogs were shorter you'd be more inclined to blog more often'...and then I'm gone...

The problem isn't that I don't have ideas. I have plenty of ideas. The problem is that I have ideas that I can't elaborate on. They're one or two sentences at most and that just seems...like...unimpressive, you know?

Let's try this one out:

Things I like about paper clips

1) Silver. I am a big fan of silver and always have been...even during the California Gold Rush of 1849 when it wasn't 'cool'.

(I typed 'I hate gold' into google image search and this was one of the results. um...anyone?)

2) Other colors. Sometimes paper clips are other colors, too. Like, um...this ONE time I saw a GREEN paper clip and it was so cool! I was like 'paperclip, stop it! you're not a blade of grass or a leaf or a leprechaun's coat! What are you doing being green?!'. And then another time I saw a PINK paper clip and I was like 'oh my gosh! you're not...um...a pepto bismol tablet paperclip! STOP TRYING TO HIDE! I'm going to use you whether you like it or not!'. And more of the same.

3) Hold things together. I know I have an opposable thumb that is hooked up to my brain, but sometimes it doesn't work so well and I need something to hold my shit together. When alcohol doesn't work, I've found that paperclips serve basically the same purpose. AND they do it well.

4) Fun to bend. I am not very strong. I can barely rip a piece of thread without having to rush to the hospital. I mean, don't get me wrong...I know girls aren't supposed to be strong. They're supposed to be pretty and good at baking and listen to whatever men around them have to say...and they probably shouldn't even go to college. But, it still is a blow to my ego when I find myself panting after trying to crush a soda can against my head (don't ask). I see people do this on TV all the time...why can't I?

Well, paperclips, unlike SODA cans (lame lame lame) are very easy to bend. When I am at my desk, bending paperclips into faux 'artsy' broches and rings I feel strong. And sometimes, regardless of what people say, that's a nice feeling to have.
