Anyway, the big event during memorial day weekend, was my cousin Alex's wedding on Sunday night. The wedding, a 'black tie optional affair' (read: I got my dress at daffy's and it seemed to do right by me) started at 5 pm, had a cocktail hour (yes!), and a dance floor big enough for several people to boogie down.
I went into this wedding with an open mind. I haven't been to many weddings so I didn't really know what to expect. Was I going to get trashed? Would there be cute guys there? How would the band be? Would I shame myself in front of my family?
The answer to these questions in no particular order are:
1) not so much
2) yes
3) not too shabby
4) not really
All in all, it was a GREAT time and made me realize that I really LIKE going to weddings! Can you all get a move on it and tie the know if you haven't already? Oh, and invite me to the wedding!
Things I like about weddings:
1) An excuse to dress up. Sure, I kind of dress up Monday-Friday...but usually I'm secretly wearing sweat pants and they just LOOK like dress pants or I'm wearing a shirt that I slept in or the dress I'm sporting hasn't been washed in a few months. But at a wedding, you have to legitimately dress up. Sometimes, you even have to wear HEELS.

2) Cocktail hour. I like going to happy hour, but it's never really an hour is it? More often than not it's two or three hours...and then you're sitting there, checking your cell phone, trying to figure out how you can get out of there without being the 'lame' person. But at a wedding cocktails only last for ONE hour...so by the time you're feeling antsy/your vodka tonic just isn't doing it for you, it's over!
3) A meal with courses. I like to have meals with courses, but rarely do. What am I, a rockstar? Come on!
4) Dancing. And not just any kind of dancing, dancing with elderly family members! If that isn't universally fun and funny then I don't know what is!

5) Center pieces. I just like center pieces, ok? Every table could use a little decoration
6) Time with family. Etc. We don't get to do this too often...bla bla
7) Time with friends. Oh, I don't actually HAVE friends but hypothetically speaking...
