Things I'm going to do this weekend

TGIFFA everyone! (Thank God It's Fucking Friday Already!)

It's been an eventful week for me: antibiotics, 4 days of work, a class on intuition where I discovered that my mantra is 'old joy fairy', a prom for senior citizens. I'm pooped! And yet, as Friday afternoon nears, and I prepare to do my laundry and maybe buy a new watch, I can't help but think of all that's yet to come. With Friday comes promise-of mornings spent sleeping in, of afternoons spent shopping, or nights spent talking about how I don't want to go to work and how lame my job is and *hiccup* how I don't know *throw up* what I want to do with my life.

So, since it's on my mind, and since this is my blog and I can blog about whatever I want, and since I feel the need to comment on how I can blog about whatever I want all the time, I'm going to blog about:

Things I'm going to do this weekend!

1) Laundry. Yeah, it's not that exciting but it has to be done. Three weeks of traveling and roaming the streets of NYC...yeah.

2) Watching 'Weeds' Season Three. So, we all started watching it Wednesday night. What a good first episode! Nancy is in up to her neck. But THEN...when I was out expanding my horizons on Wednesday and while I was out volunteering last night and making a difference in the NYC community and being a good person...some people continued watching without me. I mean, I won't mention names but it's obviously the people I live with. Hehe. Anyway, now I have to catch up and watch 7 episodes of 'Weeds' so that when we resume watching I won't be left out anymore.

I don't like being left out, you know.

3) Temple. I love going to Temple! CBST is the best synagogue ever and Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum is the, well, not best Rabbi ever, but definitely top 17. I feel so peaceful when I'm sitting in services (well, if I'm not in front of Stacy...because she sings TOO loudly) and contemplating the divine. Bla Bla Bla.

4) Getting drunk. HM. I'm not exactly sure about this but 'something Erin said' + 'Matt' + 'Eddie's birthday' + 'something Erin said' + ' club' = possibly drinking and most-likely having a really fun time.

5) ***HANGING OUT WITH MARILYN*** So, this is a big deal. I haven't seen Marilyn for a long time. Like, over a year. I mean, until she started g-chatting me recently I had kind of assumed that she was kidnapped by pirates and was living in some dark pirate ship dungeon somewhere...possibly Kuwait. But now, apparently, she's alive and in the US. And not only that, she's coming to NYC tomorrow!! I can't wait to see her!

6) Grocery Shopping. Yeah. I haven't been grocery shopping in a long time and (once I put it together) I have this new grocery cart...I don't know what I'm waiting for! Salads, Pizza, Pasta, Fruit, Dessert-I can't wait!

7) Book Club. Yes, it is book club time again. 'But Becky,' you ask, 'Wasn't it just yesterday that you got lost in Brooklyn on your way to book club and were completely stressed out?'. It seems that way, doesn't it? But it's been over a month and I finished 'Blink' a while ago. I'm ready to discuss!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

A tribute to the color red.

Red is great. I've always thought so, but yesterday my suspicions were confirmed. Check out the following "verse" that was on a gatorade I bought at Walgreens:

What kind of color is red? Red is a warning. A declaration. A color that says I'm ready to do what it takes. Red is focused and driven because red doesn't like second place. So what kind of color is red?

HM. Interesting, right?

Some of you may know, and some of you may NOT know, that red is one of my favorite colors. It's bold and saucy and provides a nice accent to an outfit of mostly neutral colors (not that I wear a lot of neutral colors or anything. I mean today, for example, I'm wearing black...and...silver. Shit. But my bracelet is blue and YELLOW and my earrings are YELLOW!).

So, to go along with my poetic gatorade from yesterday, and with my longstanding personal preference I bring you:

~ * $$$ * A Tribute to RED * $$$* ~

Featuring, pictures of red things:

Quotations/song lyrics with the word 'red' in them:

"Red, Red, wineeeee...Stay close to meeee...don't let me be alone..."

"And honey I say little Red corvette, You're much too fast. Little Red corvette, you need a love that's going to last."

"I see fields of green, and red roses too...And I think to myselffffff what a wonderful world" (*I can sign this song using ASL*)

Random words that Michelle thinks about when she sees the color red:

Blood
Love
Hot
Fever
Devil
Hell
Sun
Fire

YAY FOR RED! The best color ever (besides blue).

Beckety Snickets Series of Unfortunate Events

HELLO EVERYONE!!! I see a lot of you commented in my absence (*HINT*) so you must have really missed me. Like REALLY missed me. Like cried yourself to sleep about how you couldn't take another day without my smile or hearing me giggle or making a joke that doesn't make any sense.

If it's any consolation, I've missed you all too.

No really, I have.
So, as I was traveling home to the US from Honduras/El Salvador on Saturday, pretty much everything that could have gone wrong did. The only thing that was lucky was that: they DIDN'T lose my bag, my cab DID accept credit card, and I DID eat a delicious chicken caesar wrap at the airport. But besides that, everything was kind of lame.

As I sat on the runway in my plane for two hours, after my flight was delayed, and after my bag was randomly searched and my hair gel was confiscated I started to think 'What is this 'Beckety Snickets Series of Unfortunate Events' or something? *EXPLETIVE* *EXPLETIVE* *EXPLETIVE*'.

Thus, I bring you:
Things that happened to me at the airport on Saturday that were really lame and annoying and that no one will want to read about but I'm going to write about anyway.

1) Bug Spray was confiscated in El Salvador. I forgot to put it into my checked luggage...lame. Sorry Erin!

2) I filled out my US customs form in pencil, so after waiting in a really long customs line in Miami I had to trace over my handwriting in pencil.

3) After customs, and picking up my bag, I was confused about where to go. A customs officer said he would show me where to drop off my bag...and then told me that "because there weren't many people, and because my flight wasn't for a few hours, and because he had to check someone" he was going to randomly inspect my bags.
4) As the customers officer was checking through my stuff he kept trying to talk to me. "Oh, so I see you bought some postcards. That's nice. Oh, you brought ear plugs with you? Was it loud there?" UM. NO! I don't know what you think is happening here, sir, but we're not at happy hour.

5) I had to wait in a really long security line. After waiting in line for 15-20 minutes, My back pack was inspected again because I forgot that there was hair gel in it. So, my hair gel was confiscated. Apparently I'm a terrorist?

6) I arrived at my gate to find out that there were about 20 seats for 150 people or so. So, I had to sit on the floor.

7) My flight was delayed two hours. So I sat on the floor for about 4 hours.
(see above)

8) After my flight arrived in NYC at 12, my plane had to sit on the runway and "taxi" to our gate for 2 hours because of a lot of air traffic at JFK.

9) After picking up my bag (which took a while too...), my super shuttle that I had reserved told me they couldn't send someone to pick me up until 6 am (at this point it was 2:30 am). Never mind the fact that there were 2 super shuttles at the airport with no one in them....and that I asked those drivers if they could take me home...and the fact that they said they couldn't take me home because I was the only person who needed to go to Queens.

10) After yelling at the super shuttle guys, I had to wait in line for a taxi for 45 minutes.

11) WhilST waiting in line for a taxi, I saw a woman with a shirt that looked like this:

Very UNFORTUNATE.

BUT THEN, I got home! And the cab was only $30! And then...

the end.

Things I like about traveling!

Vacation all I ever wanted
Vacation have to get away
-----
Can't you just go somewhere on vacation?
I could book your flights and pack your bags if you want?
-----
Leaving, on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again...
Oh Babe, (I am burnt out and therefore happy to get away but) I hate to go
-----

I think you all get the point-I'm going on vacation tomorrow! I am SO excited! First of all, vacation means no work. Second of all, vacation means no work. Third of all, vacation means that I can wear flip flops every day and not wear mascara and sleep in (hopefully) and not talk to people on the phone.

Ah, purple. Purple is the color that signifies that I (Erin) am taking over. I shall now be blogging in Becky's stead. Why? Because I'm bored. Plus, I am also going on vacation. (Yay! Yay!) While Becky is off tromping through the wilds of Honduras,

I will be chillin' in Colombia.

Now, the truth is, I don't do the list thing that Becky does. Nor do I really know what she likes about traveling. So I'm going to wing it

Things I like about traveling:

1. a. I like that I don't have to answer my phone or return phone calls. Usually, I feel really guilty about not returning phone calls, but when I'm on vacation, I usually don't even have my phone on, so I don't have to worry about it.

b. I also like changing my voice mail message to say something about how I will be out of the country. It makes me feel important, and it makes people who didn't bother to ask me anything about my life, but decided to call me to complain about theirs feel bad because they didn't even know I was going to be out of the country AND they wonder where, precisely, out of the country I am.

2. Eating different foods. I LOVE food. I love it a lot, and I eat a lot of it. But, the thing is, sometimes I get sick of all of the same
foods around me. When I travel, I get to eat different foods. This is good because I can try new or different things, but also because then I start craving the good ol' foods from home, and I appreciate them more when I get home.

3.Going through security. It makes me feel really safe the way I always get pulled aside. I also really like taking off my shoes in a bacteria infested area and getting my socks dirty. Love it.

4. Getting to see people I haven't seen for awhile. Whenever I travel, it's usually with/to see someone that I haven't spent any QT with lately. It's pretty awesome.

5. Being bored. I don't get to be bored a lot, un
less we're counting while I'm at work, so it's nice to sometimes get to the point where I'm not running around and looking to my schedule for the next thing I have to do, and I get to just read, or sit around, and. be. bored.

6. Coming home. I really like coming back to my own bed and getting to see the people that I missed while I was away. And, of course, to eat all of the food that I grew to miss while I was gone.

Happy and safe travels!!

Things that I've done today/that have happened today (to me)

So, BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT IN '08?!!!?? That's a big thing that's going on right now. And NO, I don't know why this picture is sideways now. I saved it and it wasn't sideways so...what happened?

OBAMA/CLINTON? You in?!

I am!
(Debbie if this won't get you to comment then I guess nothing will or can)

UM, in contrast with this HUGE day in our country's history (The first black nominee for president or as the Washington Post puts it " invisible man, beloved, native son, some other book about the african american experience in the US, frederick douglass rocks"), I'm going to blog about a small topic.

Things that have happened today (to me):

1) I woke up. I was really unhappy about it and considered calling in "sick" to work just so I wouldn't have to get dressed, or worry about how my hair is sticking out (it really is...cute?) and so I would be able to sleep! Do you know what sleep is? I kind of do...it's this thing that...I used to do a lot but don't anymore and as a result I want to take naps at 8 pm now.

2) I took the subway. Oh I know, right?! How exciting. There were lots of people and it was hot. I listend to my "SHORT" playlist that now has 17 songs and isn't really "short" anymore.
And I held onto the pole at an awkward angle because even though I was the tallest person in my general area I should have to grab on to it near my knees and ruin my posture. Yeah.

3) I ate some fruit! A LOT OF FRUIT! A banana, and then some fruit from a platter that was ordered for work yesterday but no one ate from. MMM. It had mango on it...
And then
And then

4) I photocopied some things. It was really thrilling.

5) I talked to some of my coworkers. We "shot the breeze" or "chatted" or "bantered" or "wasted time" or "chewed the fat" or "chit chatted" or something else that's a synoym.

6) I played with Jewish. Remember her? She's wearing the CUTEST outfit today! This little purple top and some bermuda shorts <3 It's so fun to dress her! Mostly because it doesn't cost anything to change her outfits but I digress...

7) I read the NY Times. A few articles about the sitch. from last night.

8) OH and I almost forgot! I facebook stalked! This kid who used to be in chorus with me in high school. He's funny and adorable. Just like he was in high school :)

I can't do this to you anymore. Or myself.

Reasons I'm not asleep right now

Hello again!

TWO ENTRIES IN ONE DAY?!?! I know. I know. I'm too good to all of you.

Sorry for spoiling you. There I go again with the apologies. Anyway...

Erin wrote two blog entries today (you all know who Erin is right? Sometimes I feel like for those of you who DON'T know Erin you might think she's my imaginary friend / someone I made up / my split personality) and I want to be just like Erin when I grow up (read: get old, since apparently she is)...so I'm going to write two also.

Unlike Erin, though, my second entry is going to be really short and lacking in quality.

It's ok though. I don't mind, really.

Reasons I'm not asleep right now:

1) Writing this (duh!). I can't write and type at the same time. I've tried.

2) HOT. It's sort of stuffy in my room. I should research air conditioners and see: how much they cost / how to install them. Maybe someone who reads this likes to research and knows a lot about air conditioners and can help me out with this? No? Fine. Fine! Sometimes I think that I associate with the wrong people.

Anyway...

3) Awake. Well, this is another "duh" reason. Obviously I'm not asleep right now because I'm awake! :) I'm awake because I walked home from hanging out w/ 'Big D and the Kids Table' (Debbie) and 'E is Even more than anyone that you adore' (Erin) and then the humidity/walking/talking to Kate woke me up. Before that I was ready for a nap. And YES you can nap at 8 pm and not have it be called "going to bed".

I mean, for all you know, I could be napping at 8 so that I can go out and hit the clubs 'til sunrise.

4) I'm silly. Obviously. I mean, why else would I be spending time writing this instead of sleeping?

NIGHTSIES!

Things I'm thinking

So, as a few of you were so nice to point out to me, it's been a while since I blogged.

I'm sorry.

Or actually, I'm not. I won't apologize! Apologizing is for losers!

I'm not really in the mood to blog right now, to be honest. I'm basically typing so that my hands won't freeze off because it's REALLY cold in my office today.

I guess being cold is better than being hot though.

Anyway, a crowd favorite, things I'm thinking pt.________.

1) My hands are really cold. So I just told all of you that. So you're all probably bored and like 'oh my gosh. fo serious? why is Becky repeating herself. she always repeats herself. so. boring. she is sooo boring.' Well you know what I have to say to that? Nothing.

2) How should I decorate my cork board? I took down this big piece of paper with work-related-information on it and now I have all this free space!! I could put up more pictures...though I do have a lot already. Or maybe I could print out a calendar page and put it up there since I don't have a calendar by my desk. Though...I do have a calendar on my computer. It's not the same thing, though. Or maybe I could just print out some pictures that I think are pretty. Like, landscape scenes or paintings that I like. We'll see.

3) I love 'Sex And The City'. OK, so I wasn't really thinking this...but then my co-worker came over to my desk and we dished about the movie, so now I'm thinking it. I really do love it! I wonder if they'll come out with a second movie? I wonder if I've seen every episode. I feel like I have. I've definitely seen all of 4, 5 and 6 and most of seasons 2 and 3. I don't know if I've seen all of 1...
I don't know if anyone cares about this.

4) Now something else has happened and all I can think is FUCK. SERIOUSLY, FUCK. I am under-appreciated, under-challenged, over-qualified for where I am right now. I just need to remember that and have some faith I guess. Or cry. Either or. Or maybe both?

5) Pizza is delicious. Again, I wasn't really thinking this when I started to write this entry, but I just took a break from blogging to go to a "lunch and learn" session at work. I had GREEN OLIVE PIZZA and SPINACH PIZZA because apparently I like green as much as I like pizza. The green olives were super-delish. I want another piece but three might be too much.

6) My eyes are burning. Allergies?

7) This day is going to go by really slowly...Though I guess I can print out some coloring pages for Kristyn and play some word games or something.

8) Ryan Gosling is really hot. Like really HOT. Like, even though it's only 50 degrees in my office and my hands feel like popsicles, I'm still sweating just thinking about him. OK...that's not true but you get my meaning.

FIN.
