I guess I'm going with option 2. And thus, without much detail and with shorter length, I bring you:
Things I like about facebook.
1) Entertains me.
A) grafitti
--> a) I love drawing

B) scrabulous
--> a) I love playing games

C) groups
--> a) I love belonging to groups
D) TV trivia applications

--> b) The Real World
--> c) Heroes
2) Teaches me
A) grafitti

--> a) learning how to draw with my right hand even though I'm left-handed
B) scrabulous

--> a) improving my vocabulary. Now instead of spelling out words like 'cat' or 'stew' I drop 'cajoles' and 'unicorn'.
-->b) teaching me two-letter words that I wouldn't otherwise know like QI or ZA. What is 'ZA' though? I don't get that
C) birthdays

--> a) when my friend's birthdays are
D) travel trivia
--> a) where places in the world are.
3) Helps me stalk people
A) birthdays

--> a) when my b-list, c-list and d-list friend's birthdays are
B) photos
--> a) what my b-list, c-list, d-list and elementary school friends are up to
C) walls
--> a) how my b-list, c-list, d-list, and elementary school friends are keeping in touch
--> b) if my b-list, c-list, d-list and elementary school friends are keeping in touch with each other more than they're keeping in touch with me
--> c) how my b-list, c-list and d-list friends are related to each other. That kid I was in class with is friends with my best friend's friend from high school?
D) status updates
--> a) there's no better way to stalk people than to have them tell you themselves what they're doing/how they're feeling/what song they've been listening to lately/who they're in love with etc.
E) cousins
4) Helps me be a good friend
A) birthdays

--> a) helps me remember my bff's birthdays!
B) jobs

--> a) helps me learn about new job opportunities/fun internships that my friends have.
--> I. motivates me to congratulate my friends for their successful lives.
--> 1. congratulating people on their successes makes me a good friend
C) new hair cuts

--> a) helps me to learn about new hair cuts that my friends are experimenting with.
--> I. motivates me to crawl out of my bed and message my friends about how good they're looking.
D) plans
--> a) stalking friends makes me remember that I like them and motivates me to make plans with them. I would have no social life if it weren't for facebook.
5) Helps me feel good about myself
A) hoarding friends
--> a) I have a log of how many friends I have. If I wake up feeling lonely/sorry for myself and like I have no friends I can refer to facebook and remind myself that I actually have 300+ friends. I'm no loser!B) electronic log of how often my friends think of me
--> a) messages
--> b) wall posts
C) pictures
--> a) lets me show the world how cute I looked on Saturday night, or how cute I looked at so and so's birthday party/how I was invited to so and so's birthday party--> how cool I am
6) Escapism

A) see above (why participate in my sometimes BORING and ANNOYING life when I can be looking at other people's funny and exciting pictures or playing people I haven't talked to since second grade in scrabble?)
7) Lets me be passive aggressive.
A) want everyone to like me/don't want to be mean
--> a) can defriend people, without looking them in the eye/or technically telling them, with just one click!
