Things I like about Wizards

For some reason, over the past few days, I've been mentioning wizards a lot. It's kind of weird since I wasn't having a 'Lord of the Rings' marathon or re-reading any of the Harry Potter books. Why do wizards keep coming up?

I'll tell you why: because I like them. I like wizards a lot. And since I'm a talker, and I like things that I like, I tend to talk a lot about things I like. I talk about babies because I think they're adorable and I love them. I talk about drinking because I like cocktails. I talk about food because I like eating. See the pattern? So I guess I talk about wizards because I like them.

Things I like about wizards

1) Cool outfits. I'm a person who enjoys clothing. I mean, not just 'enjoying' in the practical sense like 'I enjoy wearing sweaters when it's 10 degrees outside because it's cold'. I mean that I enjoy clothing, like REALLY enjoy it...like a good piece of cheese or a scrumptuous piece of chocolate. I LOVE clothing and I love experimenting with it. I like trying new shirt/pant/skirt/legging/shoe/earring combinations-I LIVE FOR IT (I might be exaggerating). So, since I like experimenting with my personal fashion, I appreciate when other people I see are sporting rockin' outfits. I acknowledge the skill that it takes to create an ensemble. Wizards wear robes and hats. They have staffs that they strut around with. They look powerful and you know, because they're wearing robes, that they're super comfortable. What cool clothes! What cool wizards!
2) They're wise. As Rebecca pointed out to me, most wizards are really old. I think that Dumbledore, from Harry Potter (I know that all of you know where Dumbledore is from but I thought it would be funny to cite him), was around 500 years old. And other wizards, who I can't think of right now, have also been really old. With age comes wisdom, and with wisdom comes rock-star status. Since I'm young and naive and obviously don't know what I'm talking about (see previous blog entries and THIS blog entry...) I appreciate wisdom in others. Didn't Isaac D'Israeli once say:

"The wisdom of the wise, and the experience of ages, may be preserved by quotations."?

3) They're owned by Michael Jordan. I'm a sucker for Michael Jordan and basketball. Oh wait. That's a corny joke/a lie and the wrong kind of wizard(s)! Whoops!

4) They're funny. I mean mostly indirectly. Like who seriously waves a wand around? That's kind of ridiculous and therefore really funny. Also, because they're so wise, they're able to make backhanded comments about people without them even knowing it. Like, they can say to someone 'you're not the brightest bulb in the shed' and that person wouldn't even know they were calling them stupid. Except, they wouldn't say that...they would say some sassy wizard riddle. And yes I know it's not 'the brightest bulb in the shed'-pffffff. And no I can't think of any wizard riddles right now.

5) They're badass. Wizards don't care what anyone thinks about them. They fight for what they believe in. They wear long hair even when it's considered 'girly'. They tell jokes that are above everyone's heads. That's pretty punk and I like it.
