Things I like about 'Tommy'

I saw The Who's 'Tommy' for the first time when I was in 4th grade. Actually, it might have been 5th grade. We'll say 4.5th grade just to be safe. Anyway, I really liked it and in a way my life was changed forever. Off and on, over the years, I've fallen in and out of love with Tommy. In high school I listened to it alot, and then in college I bought the DVD of the movie and the soundtrack to the broadway version. Tommy and I have been through a lot together.

Things I like about Tommy

1) It's by 'The Who'. The Who are a pretty good band. They were influential in the development of punk music, and I like punk music. They've had a long career that's spanned many decades and trends. They rock, and if they produce something it has to be pretty sweet.

2) In the movie version of 'Tommy' Roger Daltrey, the lead singer of 'The Who', plays Tommy. He's kind of old now, and for a little while he rocked an eye patch, but back in the day he was beautiful. Like, actually beautiful. So beautiful that he makes me feel ugly.

Take a look:
Anyway, I could keep going on in this way for a while so it's best if I nip myself in the bud and trudge ever onward. Let's just say, aside from X rated movies, if you want to look at a beautiful man for an hour and a half, and drool, 'Tommy' is a good bet.

3) Pinball. I like pinball. In fact, it's pretty much everything I like (plastic, shiny things, lights, music and animation) morphed into a solitary jazzy item. In 'Tommy', Tommy plays a lot of pinball. He even becomes a pinball champion or 'wizard'. Seeing beautiful roger playing jazzy pinball is pretty much perfect.

4) The songs. It's kind of sad that this is all the way down here. Shouldn't the music be the #1 reason I like 'Tommy'? If I wasn't shallow then maybe. But I am shallow so...
Awkward. Anyway, the songs in 'Tommy' are out of control/tranny/hot mess. 'I'm Free', 'Pinball Wizard', do I have to go on?

5) Wizards. OK, so there aren't really wizards in 'Tommy'. But there's that hit song 'Pinball Wizard'-close enough. I really like wizards.

6) It was the first Rock Opera. I like things that are the first...things. It's nice to break ground and be innovative. Like how I was the first female child in my family, or the first family member to go to college, or how I was...
Wait. I think that's wrong. Yeah. I'm the youngest. I'm the baby.

7) It takes place in England. I like to say 'Jolly 'ol England' with a fake British accent sometimes. I think it's funny. So, it's convenient that 'Tommy' takes place in England because then, if I was watching it with a friend, and they asked 'hey Becky, where does this take place?' I could say 'Jolly ol' England'. It would be funny.

8) Meaningful. I'm not sure what the message of 'Tommy' is or what the meaning is...
But I'm sure it has a message and meaning. It's lurking under there and I'll find it one day.

9) Big Feet. So, before Tommy defeats The Pinball Wizard, um, The Pinball Wizard is...you know. The champion. The best pinball player in England. In the movie, The Pinball Wizard is played by Elton John. And he wears really big shoes. I have big feet, so seeing big shoes makes me feel at home. I think I was going somewhere with this but I can't be sure.
