Kristyn is my bff who's doing Peace Corps in Honduras. I'm sure everyone who's reading this knows that already since she's one of the 6 things I talk about on a regular basis (the other 5 being: my friends in general, when I was in college, my internship, my cats and what I've been watching on TV lately), but anyway. Since I wrote lists for Erin and Debbie and for Kate, I think it's fitting that I write one for Kristyn too (Miriam I will write one for you too eventually). Kristyn is a great person and my best friend so, here goes.
Things I like about Kristyn:
1) Her last name is really funny. I was just going to type it out but then I realized that that might not be so safe since this blog is bouncing around on the internet. If you really want to know what it is you can search through my friends on facebook. In order to do that you have to be friends with me on facebook...which...is kind of rough, I know. But sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
2) She rambles. Kristyn tells the most pointless stories...like about fishing when she was little (were you a boy?), or what she had for lunch, or some informative show she watched on the history channel. She gets really excited when she's telling these stories and you follow along, at least I do, with baited breath wondering where she's going. If she's so excited while she's talking the story's got to be good, right? No. Not necessarily. Because most of the time when she tells a story she talks and she talks and then it's just over. What? And yet for some reason each time Kristyn tells a story I'm excited to hear. That must say something about her if people like, time and time again, regardless of past experiences, and better judgment, will listen to Kristyn's long stories knowing that they'll trail off or have no point.
That being said, I also ramble. So, I guess that's why I appreciate Kristyn's rambling.
3) She's nice. Kristyn is really nice! I don't think there are enough nice people in the world (anyone else agree?) so I really appreciate the fact that Kristyn is caring and sincere. She's the friend you can call to talk about a bad day, or you can ask to pick you up because you're drunk/high in a random place. And she doesn't expect anything back-that's extra super duper nice! I appreciate Kristyn's sincerity and willingness to do anything for her friends. I would do anything for her too!
4) She's interested in things. Sure, we're all interested in things. You might be interested in sports teams and I personally am interested in pop culture/what I'm going to eat next. Fine. Having interests and hobbies is what makes us human. But Kristyn is interested in pretty much everything-I really like that. She'll read book-books (not books like I read) for fun and then teach me things. Or, she'll go to a lecture about physics just because she might learn something. I really admire people who learn to learn and read to read and are interested to be interested (please refer to the 'Things I like about Debbie' list here). So I admire Kristyn and I like that she's interested in general things or things in general.
5) She's funny. Sometimes she's not intentionally funny, but she's still funny. I like funny people so I like that Kristyn's funny.
6) She laughs at my jokes. This is also something that's important to me. Not enough people laugh at my jokes. This is why I appreciate my friends like Kristyn who do. Sure if I say something corny she'll roll her eyes but she'll GIGGLE while doing it. I don't care what she looks like as long as she's giggling at me/with me when I say something funny.
7) She's creative. She does really cool drawings for me, and has made me many-a-bracelet and craft in the past. We all know I'm a sucker for crafts (Tonight I even said that my ideal man would be crafty. I later retracted the statement but it's still bouncing around in the universe somewhere) so it's only natural that I would appreciate/love/like Kristyn's creativity. This is not to say that Kristyn's creative in just a crafty way either, because she's not. Kristyn's generally creative. Take for example the different drinks she orders at Starbucks (I couldn't have come up with those combinations), or her idea to study in empty classrooms on campus. I loved studying in the classrooms in the Ward Building-good idea Kristyn! I wouldn't have come up with that idea on my own. And wasn't it your idea to go to Mt. Vernon on the boat cruise? That was a fun day that resulted from your creativity!
Some of her work:

8) She does things with me. Well, she doesn't currently do anything with me...awkward...because she's not here. But, back in the day, Kristyn used to accompany me on many-a-outting. Sometimes she walked with me to the grocery store, even if she didn't need anything and even if it was a Saturday night. Other times she'd come to my apartment just to say 'HI' and because I was too lazy to go to hers. Or, she'd walk with me to the UPS store before class and then walk with me to the DAV to go get Chai. She's very agreeable and very fun to run errands with. Kristyn also used to go to concerts with me, even if she didn't really want to. I liked that! I like that Kristyn did a lot of things that she didn't want to, for me. What a great friend!
9) I like that Kristyn writes me letters. Kristyn writes really great letters. I like getting them in the mail. Enough said there.
10) And finally, though it's sad for me, I like that Kristyn's in the Peace Corps. As I sit in my cushy chair at my underpaying non-profit job, I wish that I was doing more to save the world. Sure, I answer the phones and help people plant trees in Israel, but couldn't I be doing more? Yeah, I could. But that would require moving. Kristyn, unlike me, isn't lazy and actually IS doing something. She's doing a big thing and helping out a lot of people. And she doesn't even CARE that there are lots of bugs in her house (I'm not insulting her, she wrote about the bugs in her blog which incidentally you can read at: happyhonduras.blogspot.com). If I were her I'd be complaining all the time.
In short, there are many things that I like about Kristyn Therese ____________. She's a great friend, a fun person to be around, and she's changing the world!
How many of us can say that?

(it's funny that I'm putting this picture up today since I just got my hair cut even shorter)
