And yet, here I am blogging about biscotti.Biscotti is just, everywhere isn't it? Starbucks sells individually packaged biscottis (oh nice, biscotti. package yourself in a way that hurts the environment. you're so selfish!), little grocery stores offer up biscottis next to cookies or chips (as if there's really any comparison).
And more recently, my mom gives them to me as a little 'treat'.
Mom: Hi Beck. I was at Trader Joes and even though they have package after package of delicious cookies and candies and chips, and great rolls and soups and sandwiches, and amazing frozen fruit and dinners I saw these biscotti and picked them up for you.Becky: Thanks mom. That's really nice
Mom: You're welcome. I just thought they looked so good.
That last statement worries me. I know my mom has bad eyesight, but how could she look at a box of biscotti and think that they LOOK good? Are her eyes really that bad? Should she be driving? Am I, as her youngest child and therefore child responsible for taking care of her in her old age (yes, Kate and Josh gave me that responsibility), going to have to move home to take care of mommy dearest? I just...I just can't do that right now. I have plans, ok?! I'm getting a hair cut today and going to PA tomorrow...and then next weekend I'm going to see 'Girl Talk'...I have a life!
So, my mom obviously finds biscotti visually appealing...but has she ever eaten one? Someone has to be eating these biscotti right? I'm sure vendors aren't just offering them up if no one likes them.I asked my roomate about this...and she...told me she likes them! I couldn't believe it!
Is is the dryness that she likes? Or the crumbliness? Or the mediocre flavoring? Or the longness of the biscotti (I had a boyfriend like that once)? I really don't know.
So I ask you, my readers, if you like biscotti can you please leave a comment and explain to me why? I mean, sure...if there was no food left in the world but a heap of biscottis I'd eat them. And actually, the other day, I had a biscotti with my lunch because I had no food at home and it was just sitting there. When you don't have any other options, go ahead...eat a biscotti. But if you could have a brownie or a cheez it or a candy cane or an apple or anything...why CHOOSE a biscotti?
vs.
? no competition.

it's the satisfying crunch, actually...
I think a cookie with a chip on top of it would be more satisfying...
